NetClean now MARA Systems' new partner
The two Swedish technology companies NetClean and MARA Systems announce their partnership in the area of preventing dissemination of child pornography pictures on the Internet. NetClean Technologies developed a novel filter technology that can prevent surfing on websites that contain child pornography materials. This breakthrough solution is available via ICAP through MARA Systems products BorderMARA, CacheMARA and via the Squid HTTP Web proxy cache server. MARA Systems implemented ICAP support for Squid and is actively involved in the development of the Squid project.
NetClean launched its novel solution in September: NetClean Image Filter. It uses a novel filter technology that prevents the dissemination of child pornography materials via the Internet. Unlike those filters that are in use today the new filter blocks directly child pornography pictures and not only the addresses of known web pages. This makes circumventing the filter very much harder.
“The problem with the filters that Internet providers use today is that it is far too simple to bypass them”, says Christian Sjöberg, MD for NetClean Technologies. Admittedly those filters protect people from unintentionally ending up on a page that contains child pornography, but they are no big obstacle for those persons that actually want to access illegal pictures. Circumventing those simple filters does not require any special knowledge.
